Madhya Pradesh: Teacher held for raping 3 minor girls
One of the victims first informed her mother on September 29 about how she and two other girls were sexually abused at school.
Raisen (MP): A 40-year-old teacher of a government primary school in Bakori area here was today arrested on charges of raping three of his minor girl students, police said.
"We booked contractual teacher grade-III Tulsiram Atya (40) of primary school last night after parents of the three victims complained to us that their daughters were raped on several counts since a month and were asked to keep quiet," Sultanganj police station sub inspector S R Pandey told PTI.
The accused was arrested early today, Pandey said, adding that he has been booked under section 376(2) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Pandey said two of the victims were nine years old while one was aged 11.
One of the victims first informed her mother on September 29 about how she and two other girls were sexually abused at school. Subsequently, the parents of the three girls lodged a complaint with the school headmaster the same day, he said.
The headmaster forwarded the complaint to one of his senior officers.
The parents contacted the police last night following which a case was registered, Pandey said.
Raisen District Education Officer S P Tripathi said that Atya has been suspended, and a departmental inquiry will be conducted into the incident.
If the accused is found guilty in the departmental inquiry, he will be dismissed from the service, he said.
Tripathi said he has served notice to the school headmaster on his failure to lodge a complaint with police immediately after the parents of the victims reported the matter to him.
