Agrigold chairman gets 3-year jail term
The court sentenced the controversial chairman in connection with the purchase of lands in Porumamilla mandal.
Anantapur: The Badvel court pronounced three-year impri-sonment for Agrigold chairman A. Venkatarama Rao on Tuesday in connection with cases pertaining to land issue.

Mydukur DSP Srinivasulu told media that a case was registered again-st Venkatarama Rao in 2001 over purchasing 300 acres of lands illegally af-ter colluding with agents in Siddavaram village in Porumamilla mandal.
Cases were registered against the Agrigold chairman under Sections 409, 420, 421 and 120B based on complaints by the locals and victims.
Venkatarama Rao was shifted to the prison after the verdict. The verdict pointed out a large number of illicit land dealings and purchase by the company. Sources said many such cases were pending against the firm in Rayalaseema districts.
