Four held for carrying ganja in borewell truck
Ganja smugglers filled the generator of borewell with ganja and set off for their destination
KAKINADA: Thondangi police discovered 1,000 kg of ganja worth Rs 2 crore hidden in a borewell truck and arrested four persons.
In a new way to smuggle ganja, its smugglers filled the generator of borewell with ganja and set off for their destination. However, on a tipoff, Tuni Rural circle inspector K. Kishore Babu and Thondangi sub-inspector M. Mohan Kumar; under guidance of Peddapuram DSP A. Srinivasa Rao, intercepted the vehicle and inspected it on Addaripeta beach road.
East Godavari superintendent of police M. Ravindranath Babu told reporters here on Sunday that Immandi Veera Venkata Ramesh of Tanuku, Ambati Raju of Gantipalli village in Kothapeta mandal, Vipparthi Samuel of Gantipalli village and Gutam Raju Kumar of Gantipeddipeta village have been arrested. Main accused Immandi Madhu and Immandi Satyanarayana Murthy are absconding.
Ravindranath Babu said that Immandi Madhu, Immandi Veera Venkata Ramesh and Immandi Satyanarayana are old criminals who have taken to smuggling ganja.
The accused purchase ganja from Visakhapatnam agency areas and transport it to Hyderabad and other surrounding areas for sale.
