ACB traps official taking Rs 2.10-lakh bribe
Vijayawada: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught red-handed a deputy chief inspector of boilers in Vijayawada region while accepting a bribe of Rs 2.10 lakh from the managing director of a pharma company.
According to ACB officials, complainant S. Balachander, MD of Centaurus Pharma Private Limited located inside the APPIIC Industrial Park of Kondapalli in NTR district, met deputy chief Inspector M. Satyanarayana, seeking permission for installing a new coal boiler.
Satyanarayana asked the company MD to meet P. Nagabhushanam, a licensed boiler technician, who will tell him the amount of bribe he will have to pay for the licence.
Thereupon, Balachander met Nagabhushanam who asked the former to pay him Rs 1.5 lakh and another Rs 1.5 lakh to the deputy chief inspector.
Following this, the company MD approached ACB officials and lodged a complaint. An ACB team laid a trap and caught Nagabhushanam while taking a bribe of Rs 2.10 lakh. The team later also trapped the accused official.
Both the accused will be produced before the special court of the Anti-Corruption Department.
