Jyothi and her husband B. Raju, employed at a private firm,  have a 19-year-old son, Rahul. It was alleged that Jyothi had an affair with her neighbour Raghavender, a railway employee. Police said her son also saw them in what was described as “intimate circumstances” Rahul allegedly saw Jyothi and Ragha-vender coming out of a restaurant and picked up a quarrel with his mother and assaulted the man. A case was registered against Rahul and he was released on bail.

After the incident, there were frequent quarrels in Raju’s family and the issue went to the community elders, who intervened.

On Wednesday, following a quarrel, Rahul discussed the issue with Ganesh, the son of Mr Raju’s elder brother. Follo-wing this, Ganesh decided to kill her. On Thursday morning, while she was alone at home, Ganesh stabbed Jyothi multiple times.

She fell down in a pool of blood. She succumbed while undergoing treatment.” Bowenpally inspector N. Kiran said. Police registered a case of murder and arrested Ganesh.
