Two arrested for trying to abduct a school girl in Hyderabad
The culprits were drunk at the time of the incident and spotted the girl when she was walking home.
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police here on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly trying to abduct a 14-year-old school girl.
P Ramesh, a car driver, and M Srikanth, who repairs cellphones, saw the girl when she was walking home in Gunthapally area on the city outskirts late Wednesday night.
The duo, who were drunk, stopped their car after seeing her. "Ramesh got down and tried to abduct her by pushing her into the car. The victim resisted and raised alarm, and a passer-by rushed toward her," deputy commissioner of police Tafseer Iqubal said on Thursday.
The duo then got into the car and fled, he added. But some locals and policemen gave them the chase and caught them at Majeedpur.
They were brought to Hayathnagar police station. Both were found to be drunk.
They were formally arrested on Thursday under section 354 (molestation) and 366 (abducting a woman) of IPC and also under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act as well as the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
