24-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Multiple Attention Diversion Cases

HYDERABAD: A 24-year-old woman, Gonela Gouthami, was arrested for five attention cases and Saroornagar police recovered Rs 12 lakh gold ornaments from her possession.

Police said she had entered a jewellery store at Dilsukhnagar and asked the salesman to display gold chains. She then asked to see other models. When the salesman was busy, she replaced a 24-gram gold chain with a duplicate that she had brought along with her and left the shop, Sai Sri B., LB Nagar DCP, said.

When the salesman realised what had happened, a police case was lodged. Police verified CCTV camera images, traced Gouthami and arrested her in Meerpet, the DCP said.

During questioning, Goutami revealed that she had committed similar attention diversion cases in Jubilee Hills, Saroornagar, Mahankali, Chaitanyapuri, and KPHB police limits.

The accused along with seized property was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
