Mumbai: 6 held for raping minor for a year
The accused have been remanded to police custody till February 12.
Mumbai: The Vile Parle police has arrested six persons, including a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) office-bearer, for allegedly raping a minor girl on Saturday. The accused have been remanded to police custody till February 12. In view of the sensitivity of the case, the names of the accused have been kept under wraps.
The complainant said that about a year ago, one of the accused had raped the victim and took pictures and videos of her while perpetrating the crime. Another accused later blackmailed her using these photos and videos to rape her on several occasions over the last one year.
According to police sources, the matter came to light on Saturday after the victim narrated the ordeal to her mother, following which a complaint was registered at the Vile Parle police station. The 15-year-old victim has alleged that the accused persons stay near her residence and have eve teased her on several occasions before her friends.
Laxman Chavhan, senior police inspector of Vile Parle police station, confirmed the complaint and said, “Six accused have been arrested under relevant sections of the IPC. The crime took place over a period of one year. Results of the medical tests conducted on the victim are awaited.”
