Tirupati: Panchayat secretary goes missing with Rs 11 lakh funds

Based on a complaint lodged by the MPDO, we have registered a case of theft against the panchayat secretary.

Tirupati: In a shock to the government authorities, a panchayat secretary has gone missing with Rs 11 lakh cash, which was brought from the bank on Monday to distribute to the beneficiaries under ‘Pasupu Kunkuma’ scheme.   

According to Satyavedu SI Mallikarjuna, the absconding secretary, Naga Raju, has been working at Kadirvedu panchayat under Satyavedu mandal in Chittoor district.

Based on a complaint lodged by the MPDO, we have registered a case of theft against the panchayat secretary.

Teams were constituted to nab him and probe into the case further, the SI said, adding that the money would also be removed.
