Erumapetti Station ASI suspended for insulting abuse victim
The ASI allegedly passed derogatory comments at the woman saying that she was willingly pushing her daughter to child prostitution.
Thrissur: ASI of Erumapetti Station T D Jose was suspended after Kunnamkulam DySP conducted an inquiry into the complaint of a woman who is the mother of a 12-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by her neighbours. The woman had said in her complaint that the ASI had insulted her and the victim in public. DGP Lokanath Behara on Monday evening came across the audio of the woman over the verbal abuse of the ASI and ordered the DySP to hold an inquiry. On Monday night, the ASI was suspended as the inquiry found him guilty. The woman who is staying in Ernakulam with her daughter used to visit her house in Nelluvai during the holidays. There her daughter was abused by a man and his minor son who live in the neigbourhood.
When she reached her house on Sunday night as directed by the police to collect the dress of her daughter which she had worn when she was sexually assaulted, the relatives of the accused persons detained her and the alleged victim. She then sought the help of the local police. The ASI who reached the spot an hour later allegedly passed derogatory comments against the woman saying that she was willingly pushing her daughter into child prostitution. Meanwhile, local BJP functionaries issued a press release on Tuesday refuting the allegation of the woman that BJP workers were involved in detaining her and the victim on Sunday night at Nelluvai.
