Karnataka: Rs 2 crore unaccounted cash seized

Belagavi: In a significant development, authorities seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 2 crore at Hirebagewadi Toll gate near Belgavai during the early hours of Wednesday.

The money was being transported without proper documents in a private bus that was on its way from Mumbai to Mangaluru, officials said.

The seizure was made when a team of officials including FST and Police conducted search around 3.30 am.

The person carrying the cash is currently being questioned, and a case has been registered in connection with the incident.

Officials from the Income Tax department have also been informed about the incident.

As soon as the news of the seizure broke, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil rushed to the spot to oversee the proceedings.
