Rape possibility persists, says autopsy report
A source told DC that the team had not yet submitted the detailed report.
Alappuzha: The autopsy conducted on the body of Jisha, a dalit LLB student, who was murdered at Perumbavur on April 28, has not ruled out rape. The report of the post-mortem done at the government TD Medical College here was handed over to the investigation officer on Wednesday.
A member of the forensic team told Deccan Chronicle refused to give more details about the autopsy. The findings of the report will be available from the police, he said and denied the speculations that the autopsy was not conducted properly.
It is learnt that the autopsy was performed by a PG student on April 29. With the issue becoming controversial, the forensic department had convened a meeting to discuss the issue.
A source told DC that the team had not yet submitted the detailed report. “A preliminary report submitted to the investigation official is incomplete,” the source said and added that the autopsy should have been performed by the senior surgeons.
Denying any lapses on the part of the forensic team, Dr Santhosh Raghavan, Superintendent, Medical College Hospital, said that there was nothing unusual in performing the autopsy under the supervision of senior surgeons. The hospital had no role in the autopsy that is under the jurisdiction of the college, he said.
