2 murdered in separate incidents in Namakkal
In another incident worker of a private lodge was murdered by his relatives over a dispute near Kumarapalayam.
Namakkal: A dyeing unit worker was murdered by his wife's paramour, as he objected to their extra-marital affair near here on Thursday night.
According to police, Karthikeyan, 34, a construction worker residing at Perumpalaikadau near Pallipalayam with his wife and son, had a year ago gone to work at a construction site at Andikadu. There he allegedly developed an intimate relationship with Vijayalakshmi, 35, wife of a dyeing unit worker Anandan.
Recently, Anandan came to know about their affair and opposed it. Karthikeyan could not meet her and he allegedly planned to murder the former. On Thursday night, he went his house, where Anandan was asleep after consuming liquor. He smashed his head with boulder and killed him on the spot. The Pallipalayam police registered a case and arrested Karthikeyan.
In another incident worker of a private lodge was murdered by his relatives over a dispute near Kumarapalayam. Police said the mother of 30-year-old Mahalingam residing at Gobi had a spat with her relative Alamelu. To sort out the issue the latter visited Mahalingam with five of her relatives on Thursday night.
As an argument ensued during their talk leading to a fight, one of Alamelu's kin attacked Mahalingam with a wooden long, killing him on the spot. The others fled the spot. On information, Kumarapalayam police recovered Mahalingam's body and sent it for post-mortem. They later arrested Alamelu and her relatives. Further investigations are on.
