Chennai: The Tiruvottiyur police on Thursday arrested 4 persons for attacking a policeman and the complainant. According to the police, the victim S. Dhanasekar (37) of Tiruvottiyur was withdrawing money from an ATM centre on T.H. Road after he had parked his car.

At the time, a funeral procession was crossing and Dhanasekar had then tried to take out his car. But A. Mari (34), M. Saravanan (32), R. Sathyaraj (34) and Arul (32) all belonging to Tiruvottiyur who were part of the procession, pulled up Dhanasekar and allegedly attacked him for taking his car while the procession was crossing the spot.

They were in inebriated condition. Sustaining injuries, Dhanasekar was admitted to a government hospital. Based on a complaint from Dhanasekar, Tiruvottiyur police registered a case and sent constable Chandrasekar to interrogate the accused. But the four persons allegedly attacked him too. “All of them were arrested and remanded in judicial custody,” the police said.
