Hyderabad: Woman harassed by government doctor

The duty doctor allegedly first cut her hair as treatment for headache, and then, under the pretext of massaging her, touched her inappropriately.

Hyderabad: A duty doctor at a government hospital in Uppal has been indicted for allegedly misbehaving with a female patient on Thursday.

Based on a complaint filed by the woman on Saturday, the Uppal police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.

The 36-year-old victim V. Pushpa visited the government hospital in Chilkanagar, Uppal, on Thursday for the treatment of a persisting headache. Uppal Police inspector P. Venkateswarlu said, “K. Balraj, the duty doctor, allegedly first cut her hair and then, under the pretext of massaging her, touched her inappropriately. Fearing embarrassment, she did inform anybody about the harassment that she was subjected to.”

On Saturday, however, after informing her husband about the same, she approached Uppal police to file a complaint.
