Perumbavoor rape case: Jisha killer sketch lands youth in fix
According to Facebook, over 50,000 users discussed the issue.
Kochi: A youth having an uncanny similarity with the sketch prepared by the police in the Jisha murder case landed in trouble after his photo went viral on the social media on Saturday. The Special Investigation Team probing the murder case later summoned him to the Perumbavoor DySP office and took his finger prints and questioned him. According to Facebook, over 50,000 users discussed the issue.
Thaslik Ky, an Aluva native salesman working in a textile shop and aspiring actor, had posted a selfie which the Facebook users shared along with the sketch prepared by the police the other day. Thaslik even had a missing front tooth which led the netizens to name him the culprit.
Thaslik initially was planning to file a cyber complaint against the perpetrators, but when he was about to leave his house, a police team reached the spot and took him to Perumbavoor. “I have nothing to do with the case. Someone who knows me shared the photo to put me in trouble. I am planning to take legal action against them,” said Thaslik. The cops behaved with him normally, he added.
Quite disturbed by the online abuse, Thaslik posted a video message asking the social media users to abstain from spreading the picture blaming him. “I am not the culprit, but by sharing my picture the users have created so much trouble for me. I may even get attacked by the public or they may pelt stones at me. Kindly refrain from sharing the images,” Thaslik posted.
