Kevin murder case: Spat over political links
Mr Thiruvanchoor alleged that there were two DYFI leaders in the killer gang.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Assembly on Monday witnessed a spat between the UDF and the LDF MLAs while Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan presented an adjournment notice on the Kevin murder case. While the Opposition tried to put the LDF in the dock by referring to the involvement of DYFI activists in the abduction and murder or Kevin, the LDF retaliated by referring to the Congress connections of the accused in the case.
Mr Thiruvanchoor alleged that there were two DYFI leaders in the killer gang. The CPM was playing politics with one section backing Kevin’s family and another backing the accused, he said. Some LDF MLAs shouted at him for the statement. While replying to the notice, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the key accused Shanu Chacko and his parents had Congress connections.
He also said that a former state general secretary of Youth Congress was also allegedly having some nexus with the accused. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala countered it by saying that the Youth Congress leader had given him a petition against the police action targeting him and that he had forwarded it to the state police chief. He asked if any inquiry was initiated on it.
