Maid harassed in Saudi Arabia

THANJAVUR: Swaminathan (65) son of Marimuthu, Azhivaikkal village near Thanjavur on Monday appealed to the district collector N. Subbaiyan to rescue his wife Annakili (47), who had gone to Saudi Arabia as a maid, but was harassed by her employers.

In a petition to the collector, Swaminathan said that he had sent his wife on December 1, 2015 to Saudi Arabia to work as a housemaid, through an agent, Sultan Bai of Mallipattinam. He gave Rs Two lakh to him. There was no contact between his wife and him after she went to Saudi Arabia. On March 4, 2016 she spoke to him over phone and said that she was locked up in a room and harassed.
