Bengaluru: The CCB police have arrested a gang of four people, including a woman, who were allegedly involved in honey trapping.

The accused have been identified as Latha, 26, a resident of Begur, her paramour Praveen Kumar alias Ayya, 24, of Pandavapura in Mandya, his associates Raghu, 20, and Kiran, 21. Another accused is absconding and efforts are on to nab him.

According to the police, Latha had deserted her husband and was staying in Hongasandra.

She had come in contact with auto driver Praveen and was in a live-in relationship with him from the last one year in Hongasandra.

They and the other accused were looking to make quick money and had decided to honey trap gullible men.

Latha contacted men through phone and tried to get close to them. She invited those who fell prey to her house.

On that day, she arranged other girls and convinced the men to have sex with any of the girls. The gang members video recorded the act and blackmailed the victims, saying the video would be posted on social networking sites if money was not paid.

“Latha’s friend had requested her to arrange a room to spend time with her boyfriend. Misusing this, Latha had told her friend that it was not safe to book room in hotels and asked her to spend time in her house. When Latha’s friend was with her boyfriend, the accused had barged in and clicked their intimate pictures. They had demanded Rs 20,000 from the couple, who had given Rs. 2,000 and a mobile phone. Again, the accused started calling the couple demanding more money. That was when the couple decided to file a police complaint and approached the CCB. Based on the call details, the accused were nabbed,” the police said.

“Preliminary probe revealed that the gang had extorted 5-6 men and we will question them about it,” the police said. A case is registered at the Begur police station in this connection.
