Hyderabad: A homemaker’s quick action helped avert a murder in her neighbour’s flat, as a stalker, after allegedly murdering G. Prudhvi Goud, the resident, was about to kill G. Sanghavi, who he was following, the police said.

Nallapati Jhansi, the neighbour, said that Sanghavi she initially saw Prudhvi bleeding, but thought it to be a prank video.

But after realising the situation, Jhansi picked up a stick and rushed to Sanghavi’s rescue. The door was latched from the inside, due to which she alerted other neighbours and with their help, broke the windows. She, her husband Nallapati Phani and other neighbours rescued Sanghavi, caught hold of the accused, Shiva, and handed him to the police.

“Girls should always be cautious of such people who harass them and report them to the police in the initial stages only. If they are not able to go to the police, they should at least try telling their family or close ones, instead of risking their lives like this,” Jhansi told Deccan Chronicle.

Recounting Sunday’s horrifying moments, Jhansi said that she heard an unusual noise and went to check. When she was returning to her flat, she saw Prudhvi bleeding profusely and he told her that his sister was inside and somebody had attacked them and fled.

Jhansi immediately picked up a long stick from her flat, and sent her son, a class VII student, and his friend to alert others while she charged into Sanghavi’s flat. By then, Shiva had latched the flat from inside.

Jhansi called her husband Phani and other youngsters in the locality, who first shut all entry points to the flat, broke one of the windows and warned Shiva to leave Sanghavi. Later, Sanghavi pushed Shiva into a room, latched it and came out with the neighbours’ help.
