Kerala police nab first accused in Muhammed Aslam murder
20-year-old Aslam's body had 67 stab wounds, including 13 on the face and his hands were chopped off.
Kozhikode: One of the prime suspects of the six-member group who allegedly killed Indian Union Muslim League activist Aslam, 34-year old Vijesh from near Thalassery was arrested on Monday. He was remanded for two weeks by the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court. The group, travelled in an Innova, allegedly attacked Aslam who was riding a bike and Vijesh hacked him to death, police said.
The police had tracked Vijesh using the mobile tower location in Pathayakkunnu but he escaped from there. Although the police received information on the other four suspects, they were not able to recognise one of them. A few days ago, a driver along with the members who aided the murder was arrested. Vijesh was the first to be arrested having a direct involvement in the crime.
The suspects, who were arrested before had aided Vijesh. Aslam, a 20-year-old worker IUML, was brutally murdered in Nadapuram in August. His body had 67 stab wounds, including 13 on the face and his hands were chopped off. Aslam was an accused in the DYFI worker Shibin murder case.
