Andhra Pradesh: ACB raids house, arrest senior official

The ACB teams raided various locations owned by Mr Narayana Reddy in Anantapur and other parts in the region.

Anantapur: In a major breakthrough, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided the  residence of senior assistants of ICDS department and seized about Rs 20 crore worth of properties, here on Wednesday. 

Sources said the senior assistant  Kovvur Venkata Naryana Reddy of Women and Child Welfare Department was working at Penukonda and was a resident in Kovvur Nagar area in Anantapur.

Anantapur ACB DSP Mr Jayaramulu leaked information in a tip-off regarding presence of large-scale movable and immovable illicit assets of the senior assistant. The ACB teams raided various locations owned by Mr Narayana Reddy in Anantapur and other parts in the region. The ACB teams were shocked after unearthing huge properties of the official at Kovvur Nagar.

Mr Reddy had previously worked as an office subordinate in the department in January 1985 and promoted as a junior assistant. He is presently working as a senior assistant at Penukonda office.

The ACB teams raided residences of Narayana Reddy and unearthed movable and immovable properties in Anantapur. 

The ACB sleuths identified huge number of properties of Mr Narayana Reddy who procured at Anantapur and other parts. 

The ACB DSP revealed that documents of G+2 and G+1 buildings and apartments at posh residential areas in the city were seized. 

Further, the ACB officials unearthed four house sites in Anantapur and surrounding areas. The authorities also seized documents of agriculture lands in various parts along with three mortgage deeds of the property in the name of K Narapa Reddy, the official’s son.

“We also noticed a G+1 commercial shop building in Anantapur town and another G+1 residential building at Dharmavaram in the district. Documents of houses in Chittoor and Anantapur were also seized,” the DSP said and added that one Kg gold jewellery, one Kg silver ornaments, a car and motorcycles were seized. The ICDS senior assistant was arrested and shifted to Kurnool ACB court.
