Chennai: Cash, gold stolen in twin burglary incidents
In another incident on the city suburbs, two men who posed as Ayyappa bhaktas and stole cash and gold were arrested.
Chennai: Around 12 sovereigns of gold jewels were stolen from the house of a policeman near Selaiyur. Rajesh Kumar is a police constable attached to the TN special police battalion. Police said on Sunday morning he had locked the house and gone to duty. When he came home back on Monday morning, he found the lock on the doors of his house broken. He rushed inside only to find the bureau broke and valuables were stolen. Based on a complaint by him, the Seliayur police have registered a case. He told police around 12 sovereigns of gold jewels were burgled from his house. Further investigations are on.
In another incident on the city suburbs, two men who posed as Ayyappa bhaktas and stole cash and gold were arrested. The accused were identified as Vijaya Kumar (26) and Thirumalai (25) of Villupuram.
According to police, the two men who posed as Ayyappa bhaktas and barged into a house in Siva Vishnu Nagar in Mudichur and attempted to snatch gold and cash. Hearing the cries of the victim, the locals nabbed the miscreants and handed them to the Peerkankarani police. The police registered a case and remanded them to judicial custody.
