6 Booked for Killing Deer in Anakapalle district
Visakhapatnam: Forest department officials in Anakapalle district have registered cases against six persons for hunting a sambar deer in Panduru reserve forest locality. They have also recovered some quantities of meat, head, and legs of the deer from the accused persons.
Forest range officer P. Jyothirmaya said that they received a tip-off that some poachers from Bheemavaram and Bangarayyapeta villages entered the forest area and killed a deer by shooting with a country-made gun on November 3.
“We started searching on Saturday morning and nabbed six persons, including three poachers, two persons who assisted the poachers, and one more person who purchased the meat. We have recovered the meat and some parts of the dead animal in the forest,” she added.
The accused persons have been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
