Female Deputy Director of Karnataka Geology Department Killed in Bengaluru

A female officer employed by the Karnataka government met a tragic end in her Bengaluru residence on Saturday night, as confirmed by the local police. The victim, Pratima, was the Deputy Director of the Mines and Geology Department of Karnataka. Her life ended due to a stabbing incident that occurred at her Subramanyapora residence.

Pratima, 45, had been residing in her home for over eight years. On the fateful evening, she was dropped off at her residence by her driver after completing her work. The unfortunate incident took place at around 8:30 pm, during a time when her husband and son were away in Thirthahalli, located in the Shivamogga district.

It was Pratima's brother who made the grim discovery early on Sunday morning. Concerned as he had been unable to reach her by phone the previous night, he visited her home, only to find her lifeless. He promptly contacted the local police to report the tragedy.

"As usual, around 8 pm on Saturday, Pratima returned home. As she did not respond to phone calls the previous night and this morning, her elder brother came to her house to check when he found out about her murder and informed the police," DCP, South Division, Bengaluru City, Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad said, quoted by PTI.

"Forensic and technical teams are at work on the spot. Three teams have been formed for investigation. We will be able to share further information once we know exactly what happened," he added.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his commitment to a thorough investigation into the murder, vowing to bring those responsible to justice. He stated, "I just got to know about it. We will inquire into it. It seems that she was staying alone (in Bengaluru) while her husband was in his native village. The reason is not yet known, and we will inquire into it."
