The Dharmapuri district police suspect the death of a missing girl to be a case of murder, as her relatives allegedly hushed up the issue and planned to cremate her body without informing the police.

Bengaluru: The body of a 29-year-old deputy manager of a private bank was found in Uttari in Bengaluru south on Monday. The deceased, Anil, has been attacked with machetes by unknown people and murdered brutally, and the body thrown in Uttari, the police said.

Anil, a resident of Banashankari and a deputy manager at Kotak Mahindra Bank on MG Road, had not returned home for the last two days. The police suspect that he may have been murdered over financial issues. The assailants might have killed him at some other place and dumped the body at Uttari, the police said.

“We have sent the body for postmortem and are awaiting the report. The investigation has begun and we’re probing all angles. We have requested the deceased’s call detail record (CDR) which may help crack the case,” police said.
