Hyderabad: Overspeeding truck kills 2 students

Hyderabad: Two 22-year-old students were killed when a speeding tipper hit their two-wheeler in Adibatla on Monday afternoon. The victims were identified as S. Mahesh and L. Durga Prasad, students of Bharat Institute of Engineering and Technology in Ibrahimpatnam.

Mahesh, a native of Nalgonda district, was doing his MBA in the college and Durga Prasad was studying engineering. Residents of Badangpet, they had started for home after the college closed. When they were entering the main road, the tipper travelling from the Outer Ring Road towards Gachibowli hit their bike at great speed.

The duo and the bike were flung in the air and fell at a distance. The rider was wearing a helmet but it broke loose by the force of the crash. Mahesh and Prasad died on the spot.

Adibatla inspector Govinda Reddy said the accident occurred due to the negligence of the tipper driver. 

“He tested negative for drunk driving. A case of accidental death is booked against the driver.” he said,
