On Thursday evening, she was riding pillion with her husband Ranganathan on a motorcycle when the incident happened, police sources said.

The couple were riding towards Chengalpet from Kottimangalam.

Since road-laying works were underway near Nemmeli, Ranganathan chose to ride his bike along the side of the road when he lost control.
