HYDERABAD: The VI Additional District Sessions court for Cyberabad on Friday sentenced four persons, including three from a family, to imprisonment till death. They were accused in the murder of a pregnant woman, Pinki alias Bingi, whose chopped body parts stuffed in gunny bags were found in a garbage dump near Botanical Garden under Gachibowli PS in February 2018.

The court also imposed a Rs 10,000 fine on each of them.

Pinki’s son, who was then six years old, played a crucial role in getting his mother’s killers punished. Though he did not witness the murder, he testified before the court the turn of events, which corroborated with the other evidence, proving the guilt of all four accused.

The accused are Pinki’s partner Vikas Kashyap, his friend Amarkanth Jhah and Jhah’s parents Anil Jhah and Mamatha Jhah. They, however, did not harm Pinki’s son, who was later handed over to his father in Bihar.

In February 2018, GHMC sanitation workers noticed the sacks from which blood was pouring out and alerted the police. Initially, a murder case was registered but the PME revealed that the woman was eight months pregnant.

A thorough investigation, scanning hundreds of hours of CC footage from multiple cameras en-route the crime scene, analysing various clues and piecing them together, helped police to spot two bike-borne persons, including a woman, who brought the bags and dumped them at the spot.

Through reverse investigation, police traced the bike owner, who admitted that he had given it to his friend Amarkanth for a ride. Amarkanth was picked up and on being questioned, spilled the beans.

Pinki who was married and had a son, then, left her husband and eloped with Vikas and landed in Hyderabad. They started staying with Amarkanth’s family. While Amarkanth ran an eatery, Vikas helped him and made some money. Meanwhile, Vikas started having an affair with Mamatha.

The family was already angry that Pinki and her son had become a burden on them and decided to do away with them, once and for all. Meanwhile, they learnt that Pinki was pregnant. Fearing that they might have to take care of another person, their desire to get rid of her became stronger.

They roped Vikas into the conspiracy and all together killed her in a room of their rented apartment, while her son was playing in another room. Later, they chopped her body into pieces using a stone cutter, and stuffed them in two sacks. Amarkanth and Mamatha dumped her near the Botanical garden.

The accused were then remanded to judicial custody. Despite repeated appeals for bail in the concerned court and even in the high courts, the accused could not get bail and they remained in remand till the day of the judgement. They were also detained under the PD Act.
