Bengaluru: Rowdy attacks police, shot at, held
The constable, Mani, who was attacked on his left arm by the accused was rushed to the nearby hospital for first aid.
Bengaluru: An attempt to murder case accused was shot at on his leg by the police after he attacked one of the constables with a machete to evade arrest in Mahadevapura police station limits on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Charan Raj, 26, a rowdy sheeter, and arrested by the Mahadevapura police. The constable, Mani, who was attacked on his left arm by the accused was rushed to the nearby hospital for first aid.
According to the police, on April 3, around 11pm, the accused, Charan, along with his friends picked up a fight with Ajay over a petty issue and slit his throat on Whitefield Main Road near the KPTCL office.
The passersby immediately rushed him to the nearby hospital where he is currently being treated and is said to be in critical condition. The police had formed a special team to nab Charan and on Thursday morning they received credible inform that the accused was near Singayyanapalya railway track.
The police immediately reached the spot and the accused refused to surrender and resisted arrest. When constable Mani approached Charan, he attacked him with a long machete.
Sub Inspector Narayanaswamy immediately opened fire and shot him on his leg. The Mahadevapura police have arrested the accused and are trying to find out about the other accused involved in attacking Ajay.
