2 burglaries in a day in Chennai

Around 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery were missing. Subsequently, Ramachandran lodged a complaint with the police.

Chennai: Around 35 sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from different houses in Triplicane and Mangadu.

Police said, Ramachandran (45), resident of Vijayalakshmi Nagar at Mangadu, had gone out on a family vacation, a week ago.

When the family returned on Friday morning, Ramachandran found the bureau forced open, and the contents strewn around.

Around 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery were missing. Subsequently, Ramachandran lodged a complaint with the police.

Likewise, Lakshmi (30), resident of Srinivasa Nagar at Mangadu, had gone to a relative's house on Thursday morning and had returned home on Friday morning. She found her house open and about 10 sovereigns of gold jewels and Rs 10,000 in cash missing from the house.

Mangadu police have registered two cases of burglary.

Police are checking footage from CCTV cameras in the area, and suspect the involvement of the same gang in both the crimes. Investigations are on.
