Hyderabad: Advocate held for encroaching on state land
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant Sections.
Hyderabad: A woman advocate in the city who reportedly encroached on a piece of government land and was carrying out construction work was arrested by the Jagadgirigutta police and produced before a court for judicial custody on Friday. Police identified her as Sangeetha Tomer, 40, of Vijayanagar Colony.
On Friday, the Jagadgirigutta police received a complaint from officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board that the department a woman was building a house on six acres of land that it owned at Gajularamaram (Sy No 329/1/2) of Quthbullapur mandal.
The officials said she was carrying on with the construction work though she was aware it was government land and that it was an offence.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant Sections.
Jagadgirigutta inspector K. Srinivasulu said Ms Tomer despite knowing that it was government land had carried out the construction work. Based on her confession, she was placed under arrest and produced before a court for judicial remand, he said.
