Hyderabad: Taking a serious view of “spreading rumours” on social media defaming a woman’s dignity and honour, the Telangana High Court has dismissed a petition of the accused held for posting “objectionable content” against YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y.S. Sharmila.

Justice Shammem Akther was dealing with a petition filed by P. Venkateshwar Rao seeking to quash the cases lodged against him by the Telangana police detective department for allegedly posting content linking Sharmila to actor Prabhas.

The petitioner, who is an MCA student in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh, approached the  HC against police alleging that the cops had lodged a “false FIR” on mere grounds of posting comments regarding a video related to Sharmila.

The police arrested the petitioner, who is currently out on a bail.
