Ayshwarya told to approach lower court for bail
It was alleged that Ayshwarya was under influence of alcohol and soon after the accident the patrol police took her to Saidapet Hospital.
CHENNAI: The Madras high court has directed Ayshwarya Wilton, detained in prison for causing a car accident killing a carpenter on Friday, to approach the trial court for bail. The mishap occurred when Wilton, daughter of an industrialist, was proceeding in her Audi car along with her friends from Chetpet towards ECR, after crossing Tidel Park, around 3.30 am on July 1. The car rammed against three persons and one among the injured — carpenter Munusamy - succumbed to injuries. It was alleged that Ayshwarya was under influence of alcohol and soon after the accident the patrol police took her to Saidapet Hospital.
Ayshwarya was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on July 2 for various alleged offences. Moving the bail petition, counsel for Ayshwarya submitted even assuming the petitioner had consumed alcohol, certainly it would be less than the percentage prescribed. Disposing of the bail petition, Justice S. Vaidyanathan said ‘Ayshwarya has approached this court without availing the alternative remedy available before the court below. This court is not inclined to render any findings in this matter, as it may have impact on the issue, when the petitioner approaches the lower court." The judge granted liberty to Ayshwarya to move the trial court. He also directed the trial court to decide the matter in accordance with law, uninfluenced by this order.
