Kerala: Man held for assaulting minor girl

Kochi: A 54-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday by the Perumbavur Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The accused was identified as a resident of Vazhakulam. According to cops, the accused allegedly sexually exploited the nine-year old girl during the period from October 1 to 17 last year. The girl is his neighbour.

“He used to visit the girl when her parents would go out for work and lure her by offering sweets. The girl finally revealed her ordeal to school authorities who, in-turn, alerted the Child Line activists. However, the accused went into hiding when the police lodged a case,” police said. The accused was finally arrested from Vazhakulam area based on a tip-off.
