Hyderabad: A businessman who threatened other industrialists to pay their electricity bills by using Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) as his Truecaller ID, has been arrested by the Kushaiguda police at Cherlapally on Wednesday.

B. Venkateshwar Rao, owner of Sri Ujwala Industries, a wires and cables manufacturing company at Cherlapally had given the company on lease to Hitesh Jain of Secunderabad. Hitesh appointed his younger brother Jatin to supervise the operations at the company.

As Jatin failed to pay the lease amount and electricity bills from March this year, Rao kept calling Jatin to clear the bills. However, Jatin did not respond. Rao then approached the Cherlapally Industries Association to resolve the issue.

“The association called Jatin who told them that he is the DGP and asked them to check his True Caller ID for confirmation. Panicked, the businessmen approached the DGP on Wednesday. Following his directions, a case was registered against Jatin and he was arrested,” said inspector K. Chandra Shekar.
