Vijayawada: DGP Gautam Sawang on Friday suspended DSP V. Ramesh Kumar for allegedly misbehaving with and sexually harassing a woman who had come to the women’s police station at Guntur to lodge a complaint, for over five months.

The victim secretly filmed the DSP and approached the police with the evidence.

According to reports, the 32-year-old victim had come to police station to lodge a complaint against her husband and in-laws who were harassing her. Ramesh Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her in the police station itself.

Her requests to transfer her complaint to another police station for follow-up action went unheard. On the contrary, the DSP began to summon her to the police frequently; she even dreaded entering his chambers.

When he tried to physically harass her, she decided to film him secretly and succeeded.

The video clip purportedly shows the DSP physically touching the victim while assuring her that he would take care of her.

The woman recorded the episode on her mobile phone and lodged a complaint along with the evidence with Guntur Urban police during the first Spandana programme on June 10.

Following this, Guntur Urban SP P.H.D. Ramakrishna conducted a probe and submitted his report to South Coastal Zone Guntur range IG Vineet Brijlal. The report was then forwarded to Mr Sawang for necessary action.
