Warangal: Baby’s rape, murder – Chargesheet soon
The DNA test of the accused Polepaka Praveen and the post-mortem reports were ready.
WARANGAL: The investigation into the rape and murder of a nine-month-old infant in Hanamkonda came to an end with the police completing the investigation and establishing the crime with the help of CCTV camera footage and witnesses. Warangal commissioner of police V. Ravinder said 38 witnesses including three eye witnesses were interrogated.
The DNA test of the accused Polepaka Praveen and the post-mortem reports were ready.
“With the investigation concluded, we are ready to file the chargesheet and submit it to the court. We expect the judgment in this case to be in a way that such crimes are never repeat again. The accused was arrested on the same day of crime and kept in remand. After the court granted us his custody, we began our investigation and were able to collect evidence to prove the guilt of the accused”, he said.
It may be recalled that during the wee hours of June 19 the accused Polepaka Praveen, who is a native of Vasanthapur village under Shayampet mandal in Warangal Rural district, abducted the nine-month-old infant while her family was sleeping on the terrace of their house in Tailor Street and molested her.
By the time, her parents could locate her, the baby had breathed her last.
Widespread protests and demonstrations were held across the state demanding that the government equip fast track courts for the trial of the case and announce capital punishment for the accused.
