Coimbatore: Police have arrested one person among the two who were on the run in connection with the plan to murder leaders of Hindu outfits here. Recently, IB personnel from Chennai along with the SIU landed here after tracking a gang of five that allegedly had connections with the banned ISIS.
The personnel picked up the five at the right time before they could execute their plan of murdering two Hindu outfit leaders including Hindu Makkal Katchi (Tamizhagam) founder Arjun Sampath.
After interrogating and receiving vital information from the gang, the accused were imprisoned at Coimbatore central prison. Meanwhile, two special teams are searching for two more persons in connection with the murder plan.
The duo was identified as auto drivers, Faisal (28) from Ukkadam and Anwar (29) from Kuniyamuthoor.
Late on Monday, the special team picked up one Faisal from Ukkadam, but later, coming to know that he was not the one they were looking for, he was released.
