3 peddlers arrested, 120 kg ganja seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Three members of an interstate ganja peddling gang were arrested by sleuths of the Rajendranagar Zone Special Operations Team on Wednesday. 120 kg of the banned substance and two four-wheelers, worth Rs 24 lakh, were seized from the accused.

The accused were arrested during a routine check in Mokila late on Tuesday. A fourth accused is on the run.

During interrogation, one accused confessed that he initially hatched a plan to commit theft and roped in two of his friends, natives of Tamil Nadu, to help him. The accused committed property offences in Hayathnagar, Ghatkesar, Medipally, Balapur, Keesara and Patancheru and had been arrested then.

Recently, the trio hatched a plan to sell ganja in Bengaluru and accordingly, proceeded towards Vijayawada to purchase the contraband at Rs 500 per kg.

While they were proceeding towards Bengaluru in two separate cars, they were stopped by police during a routine check, when the ganja was found and the accused were arrested. They were produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
