Man gets 20-year prison for abusing minor boy in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The special judge for trial of Protection of children from sexual offences (Pocso) Act cases-cum-XII additional MSJ Nampally, T. Anitha on Wednesday convicted accused Mohammed Irfan to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 20 years and also directed to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for sexually abusing a minor boy.

The incident took place under Falaknuma police station limits on March 5, 2018. While the victim’s family members were away, the accused took the victim to his washroom and sexually abused him, police said.

The same day the victim’s mother grew suspicious after she found her son uncomfortable. After counselling, the distraught boy disclosed his ordeal to his mother who took up the matter with the Falaknuma police. The victim was sent to Bharosa centre where his statement was recorded.

Based on a complaint, police registered a case under section 506 of the IPC and Section 5 of the Pocso Act and took up investigation.

Hyderabad police commissioner C.V. Anand appreciated the efforts made by the investigation officers and Bharosa centre for facilitating the victim and his family in counselling and medical support.
