Local CPM leader hacked to death in Kerala
Party holds RSS-Bajrang Dal responsible for the killing
Another political murder rocked Kerala on Sunday night when a CPM local leader was hacked to death in Chittalingad in Thrissur district of Kerala.
The dead was identified as P U Sanoop,36, branch secretary of Chittalangad unit of CPM. The incident happened at around 11 pm on Sunday when Sanoop was attacked with swords and knives by a gang.
Three other persons who were with Sanoop at the time of the incident sustained injuries in the attack. The condition of one of them is serious.
The police has identified four persons who were allegedly involved in the attack. A high level police team is probing the gruesome killing which has resulted in tension in the entire area.
CPM leader and local bodies minister Mr A C Moideen who visited the place of crime alleged that the main accused in the case were having close links with RSS and Bajrang Dal. "Those who carried out this heinous act on CPM leader are associated with RSS and Bajrang Dal. The police investigations are on and we demand the immediate arrest of all criminals involved in the murder. It was brutal. All the injured have sustained multiple stab injuries,” he said.
The minister alleged that the main objective of the attack was to weaken the political and organizational activities of the CPM in the area. Besides, it is also a planned attack since the CPM had been in the forefront fighting against the drug peddling gangs in that area. “We strongly suspect that RSS and Bajrang Dal are shielding the gangs and drug peddling in the area," he added.
This is the third CPM worker to have been murdered in Kerala in the last two months. Earlier on August 30 two CPM youth wing DYFI activists were hacked to death in Venjaramoodu in Thiruvananthapuram district.
Meanwhile the state unit of the party has given a call for protest across the state on October 6.
CPM state secretary Mr Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said one of the assailants was a former Congress worker which clearly indicated the nexus between the Congress and BJP-RSS. The two parties are systematically carrying out attacks against CPM cadres and leaders in the state with the objective of creating law and problems.
He said the BJP-RSS and Congress want to provoke the CPM cadres through such heinous attacks and force them to retaliate. The CPM state leadership has appealed to party workers to maintain restraint even in the face of such grave provocations.
