Hyderabad: Watchman steals Rs 10 lakh from employer, nabbed

Hyderabad: A 32-year-old man from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh who stole Rs 10.2 lakh kept in his employer’s house, was arrested by the Rajendranagar police on Monday.
According to the police, complainant J. Raji Reddy, a resident of Sri Sai Rama Homes in Hyderguda, lodged a complaint that he lives alone in the house and his wife, a teacher lives at Warangal.
A few days ago, he sold an agriculture land at Chevella and got Rs 10.2 lakh cash. He had kept the cash in a bag at home, which later went missing. During the probe, it was found that the watchman of the apartment, Vemanavalasa Sattibabu, 32, had stolen the cash.
On November 1, when Mr Reddy was sleeping without locking his door, Sattibabu stole the cash. He packed the cash in a small carton and concealed it behind the stairs.
When Mr Reddy enquired about the missing bag, Sattibabu told that he threw the bag thinking it was trash.
“An inquiry was conducted into his allegations and the GHMC labourers were also questioned if they found any bag. The CCTV footage was recovered and it was found that the watchman had entered the house, but as claimed, did not go towards the garbage bin outside the house. Later during questioning, he confessed to having stolen the cash,” said the police. He was arrested on Monday and the cash was recovered.
