NCB to Promote TS NAB Practices Across States, Enforcement Agencies
Hyderabad: The TS Narcotics Bureau (TS NAB) has submitted a detailed report to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the nodal agency for enforcement on drugs, of its functioning and operation style. NCB had earlier appreciated TS NAB and sought a report on their best practices, which would be circulated to all other agencies and states.
The report is uploaded in the Narco Coordination Center (NCORD), working under the Union home minister, so that all law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and states can study and take cue from them.
TS NAB detailed its multi-pronged strategy for enforcement and creating awareness on legal issues apart from the ill-effects of drug consumption, peddling and trafficking.
The bureau highlighted about Dopams (Drug Offenders Profiling, Analysis and Monitoring System), a tool that has been developed by police.
One of its main features is that it helps in identifying repeat offenders. It also helps investigators to identify offenders based on the areas of their operation and the kind of drugs they peddle. It was helpful in busting such nefarious gangs.
The agency called for better coordination and constant information sharing between various government agencies and other stakeholders to contain the drug menace.
NCB was specifically informed about how African nationals were involved in drug trafficking and how several foreign nationals were missing from the addresses registered with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officers (FRRO).
There should be a proper mechanism on movements of foreigners, especially Africans, from their entry to other states, TS NAB said.
