Actress assault case: Dileep chargesheet cleared
SIT plans to approach court to fast-track judicial proceedings in case.
Kochi: The Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday completed the scrutiny of the supplementary chargesheet submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the actress assault case and accepted it in its file. The chargesheet, which names 12 accused, including actor Dileep, was submitted by the SIT on November 22.
Earlier, the court informed the counsel of the accused that summons would be issued to them soon. Once the accused appear before the court, the chargesheet will be handed over to the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court, considering the gravity of the offences. The Principal Sessions Judge will then decide which court will conduct the trial proceedings.
As per the additional chargesheet, Dileep, eighth accused, had conspired with main accused Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni to commit the crime on February 17.
The SIT listed over 355 witnesses, including Dileep’s former wife Manu Warrier and wife Kavya Madhavan. The SIT is planning to approach the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court to fast-track the judicial proceedings to avoid the possibility of the accused, who also include highly influential persons, influencing witnesses in case of a delay in trial.
Earlier in the day, Pulsar Suni was presented before the Angamaly court upon completion of his remand period. The court extended his judicial custody till December 19.
