Minor girl raped in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: A- 17-year old minor girl was allegedly raped by a 30-year-old man under Fourth-Town police station limits in the city. The incident took place on Thursday evening and her mother lodged a complaint with the police on Friday evening. The police launched a search for the accused who worked as a private car driver. The police said the accused was identified as P. Srinivas, 30, a resident of HB Colony and worked as a car driver in a house at Subbalakshminagar, while the minor girl worked as servant maid in the same house.
Inspector of Fourth-Town G.V. Ramana said around 6 pm on Thursday evening, the driver took the minor girl to an isolated place near the house where both worked and raped her. After the incident, the girl went back home and narrated the incident to her mother, who immediately went to the police station and filed the complaint. She was sent to King George Hospital for medical examination.
Though the parents of the girl have claimed that the victim is a minor girl, the family members of the employer say that the girl was around 21 years old. The police said that they would verify the birth certificate of the victim and would take action against the employer if the girl is found to be a minor.
