Pistols, ganja seized from six-member gang held last week
Anantapur: A special team of Anantapur district police seized four more pistols and two kilos of ganja from a six-member gang, arrested a few days ago. The police also identified nine illicit arms manufacturing facilities in Madhya Pradesh and equipment used to manufacture weapons were seized from the accused.
Anantapur SP Dr Fakeerappa Kaginelli said that the gang, comprising people from Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa, was taken into custody on December 31 following a raid at an arms manufacturing facility in Umardi of MP’s Barvani.
During interrogation, the gang revealed details of more manufacturing units and also admitted to selling arms to several gangs in various states. “Police teams visited Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa in the last week.
The team, led by Kalyandurg DSP, raided many units and seized four pistols, ammunition and manufacturing equipment. A total of 22 armed weapons, 97 rounds of ammunition, 31 kilos of ganja and two cars were seized,” the top cop said. The gang also sold drugs across several parts of the country.
