GHMC official found with Rs 2 crore assets
The officer was earlier accused of taking lakhs as bribes from various people.
Hyderabad: Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths raided the house of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) section officer J. Mahesh in the city on Wednesday and seized disproportionate assets worth around Rs 2 crore. The officer was earlier accused of taking lakhs as bribes from various people and agencies. Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths said that Mahesh owned a five-storied building at Sainik Nagar and an independent house in the same area.
“Both are worth around Rs 2 crore. He also owned plots in Yapral, Kapra, Kompally, Ghatkesar,” said an official. After raiding his house, the Anti Corruption Bureau seized 1.3 kg gold, 2.3 kg silver and Rs 2.3 lakh. The sleuths also recovered documents which showed a bank balance of Rs 28 lakh and chit funds deposits worth Rs 9 lakh. Mahesh also owned two bikes and a four-wheeler. He had also paid lakhs as his children’s fee in city engineering colleges. The Anti Corruption Bureau booked a case against him for possessing disproportionate assets.
