Hyderabad: Man harasses neighbour for 8 months, held
According to the police, the Eshwar Rao used to live in the fifth floor of the same apartment, where the victim was staying.
Hyderabad: A 22-year-old, who has been facing sexual harassment allegedly from her neighbour for over eight months lodged a complaint with the Gandhinagar police on Saturday.
Following this, the police arrested the accused and sent him to judicial custody.
The accused has been identified as Seelam Eshwar Rao, 41, a trader.
According to the police, the Eshwar Rao used to live in the fifth floor of the same apartment, where the victim was staying.
Once, while the victim used the lift to reach her apartment in the third floor, the accused also got in and allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately, around eight months ago.
Gandhinagar inspector S. Sreenivasa Rao said, “At another time, when they were in the lift, he allegedly showed his private parts. The victim, later stopped using the lift altogether. Meanwhile, she got to know that the accused had also harassed her mother in the same way.”
The complaint stated that Eshwar Rao damaged the victim’s car. When he was asked about this, he asked the victim to come to his apartment. The victim, then allegedly went to meet Eshwar Rao with her cousin brother.
According to the complaint, the accused, along with his brother Seelam Yelleshwar, 42, and 15 others, attacked her family members. Due to this, the victim’s mother allegedly got a panic attack and was hospitalised.
Subsequently, the victim lodged a complaint with Gandhinagar police who registered a case under IPC Sections 354, 506, 509 and 290 and arrested the three accused on Saturday.
