Nellore: Youth killed as tractor clamp malfunctions

The deceased has been identified as Muvva Venkateswarlu of Darimadugu village.

Nellore: One person was killed and 19 were injured in a road accident at Prakasam district on Saturday.

A 17-year-old youth travelling by a tractor was killed and 19 were injured when the clamp of the trolley broke accidentally near Gumdamcherla village in Peddaraveedu mandal in the early hours of Saturday.

The victims were returning to Darimadugu village in Markapuram mandal after attending a Jatara at Sri Venutala Katamraju Gangabhavani shrine located near Gumdamcharla.

The deceased has been identified as Muvva Venkateswarlu of Darimadugu village. He was studying Intermediate. The injured have been shifted to the government hospital in Markapuram.

Two of those injured, Sivarama Krishna and Venkataramana, have been shifted to Ongole and Narasaraopeta for better treatment after their condition turned critical. Peddaraveedu SI Prabhakar Rao has booked a case and investigating.

Meanwhile, in Kadapa, a police cordon and search operation on Saturday led to the death of a man who allegedly suffered a heart attack.

The police had been holding a cordon search at Alamkhanpalle, near Kadapa on Saturday evening.

A construction labourer Raja (50) was sitting in his house when the inspecting team of cops came suddenly  arrived there.

They started searching his house. The man presumably got scared by their action and suffered a heart attack. He collapsed on the spot. The local people felt angry over the man’s death and criticised the police action that led to the tragedy.
